After class Louis had come to the library in search of some supplemental reading material to go along with his coursework. What a studious Ravenclaw. Anyway, he was absentmindedly searching the stacks while also thinking about his run in with Emily a few days ago. He hoped that he would run into her again, and soon. There was just something about her that he couldn't help but be drawn in by.
Emily had seen Louis come in, and immediately headed to the back of the library, hidden between cramped shelves of books. She watched him wander closer and closer to her hiding spot and forced herself to keep still. Almost there... He was one aisle away now. He turned his back and she pounced. "Ha! I win!" She had managed to send the book he had flying down the aisle, and left a pile of books on the end teetering precariously.
Louis almost jumped out of his skin when Emily pounced, he was so caught up in his own thoughts about the aforementioned girl that she actually managed to scare him, not that he'd ever show it. He turned his head slowly, a smirk playing on his face when he faces her. "Do you? Does it count if I knew you were there?" though he totally didn't know she was gonna sneak up on him, he was SO not going to admit that to her. "But you must be a mind reader because I was just thinking about you" he added with a wink.
"Liar," Emily smirked. "I so got you. You were terrified." She leaned against the books, crossing her arms in front of her. She wasn't really going to admit how happy it made her to hear that he had been thinking about her, but she still felt it. "What can I say? I'm pretty hard to forget. Anyway, whatcha doin?" And on that last line, think the girl from Phineas and Ferb.
Louis shook his head while leaning down to pick up his book, firmly in denial. "I don't know what you're talking about." He chuckled at her attitude and decided to test out an idea. He leaned casually up against the same book stack as Emily, one arm above his head, and stared straight down into her eyes, leaving about 8 inches of space between the two of them. "Oh you know, just trying to get a little extra studying done. What are you up to? Besides attempting to scare poor innocent boys like myself?" He smirked a little and leaned slightly forward, gauging her reaction to his proximity
Yeah that whole innocent flirting thing kind of stopped working out for Emily as soon as Louis got that close. Damned if she wasn't going to valiantly keep up the effort, though. "Just, you know, regular library... stuff." Her voice trailed off. "Very good for studying... Libraries, I mean. They're good. You know. For studying." Emily sort of lost her train of thought and was not having a lot of success in looking away.
Louis chuckled softly at her sudden shyness. He was a cocky one that boy. He nodded, pretending to really be in deep thought about what she was saying, "Yes I've heard they can be quite good for that." He wanted to push her just a liiiitle further though so he leaned in real close and whispered in her ear, "Of course, I've heard they can be quite good for a few other things too, if you know where to go." He pulled back to stare intently into her beautiful eyes.
Okay so Louis has just become Undesirable No. 1. Anyway, just as Emily was about to close her eyes and let him kiss her, he pulled away and she relaxed a little. She hadn't realized she had been pressed all the way against the books, as far back as she could go. She gave a small, nervous laugh. "Maybe you could show me where sometime," she recovered gracefully. "You said yourself you like to explore." A small grin and Emily was back in the game. Okay, so she'd been a little overwhelmed earlier. Now she was back in charge.
Louis shot her a playfully concerned look "are you sure you could handle it my dear Emily? You seemed a little flustered at the idea just moments ago." He chuckled softly but got caught up in that adorable little smile. Thankfully he had more control than she did. "But if you're up for it, I'd be more than happy to show you sometime." A smirk danced on his lips.
Emily spluttered for a moment, not exactly disproving his statement. "I'm not flustered! I was perfectly in control! You're the one who's - You just -" She stopped for breath. "I could handle anything you could throw at me." Yet she was still pretty keenly aware of the fact that Louis hadn't moved yet, and was still incredibly close to her.
He gave her an infuriating smile and place a hand on her shoulder and leaned in close to her, "Don't worry Emily, I'll take care of you" And he really meant it, he barely knew this girl, but he felt that he would do almost anything to take care of her. he paused, remembering himself and winked, pulling away, and went back to being an extreme tease.
Emily was momentarily at a loss, but found her footing relatively quickly. She smirked (now you've got me doing it) and slid away from the bookshelf. "And what makes you think I need taking care of?" She realized they were in the Charms section, where she had been planning to get a book. You know, the reason she was in the library in the first place. "Found my book," she pulled it off the shelf. "I think I'm done here."
Louis gaped only momentarily, at a loss. "Oh, I, uh..." he blinked a few times at being completely blown off before regaining composure. "Right. Yea me too." he held up the book he had in his hands he had all but forgotten in the exchange of the past few minutes. "So listen, I'd uhh, like to take you to Hogsmeade sometime." Louis is so not smooth...
Louis stared at her dumbly for a moment before shaking himself out of his stupor and nodding. "Right, this weekend. Great. Yes, I'll meet you in the courtyard to escort you." He smiled. All the while he was thinking to himself, what on earth was it about this girl that had him so shaken? Normally he just turned up the charm and they were his. But with Emily, it came and went. She could be complete putty in his hands, but at the same time she kept striking him dumb. What was with him?
Emily wandered through the stacks, not really looking for anything. Or even looking at the books, for that matter. It was just a quiet, empty place to hang out for a while. For once, though, she wasn't really thinking about Louis. Not that he was ever really far from her thoughts, but this time she was just aimlessly daydreaming.
Louis walked into the library, intending on studying. However, these plans were scrapped as soon as he caught sight of Emily wandering through stacks of books. He smiled to himself, and immediately resolved to do something he'd been wanting to do since he met her. He walked quietly up behind her and gently spun her around by the shoulder, ducking his head down and pressing his lips to hers without so much as a "hello."
Emily was about halfway through an "Oh hey!" but for obvious reasons, that got sort of cut off. She hesitated for a moment, then leaned in. Her back was pressed up against the books and she didn't mind, one arm around his neck and her quiet thinking spot totally abandoned. She pulled away after a moment, but stayed close, unable to bring herself to move. "That was," she gulped, her eyes wide. "That was. Um." Louis should not have the ability to turn her brain into mush like that, but for some reason he did and it scared and excited her at the same time. Her brain was just stringing gibberish together anymore, so she opted not to speak instead.
When Emily pulled away, Louis leaned his forehead against hers, grinning like a loon. He couldn't help but be incredibly happy about the fact that he apparently made her feel so discombobulated. "I was just covering some unfinished business from yesterday," he winked and leaned in to kiss her again. Her lips were so soft against his, and the meshed perfectly together.
"Wait, hang on. Stop. Wait a second," Emily babbled. Were they in a relationship now? Does this count as being in a relationship? How serious? Questions ran through her brain, nearly all of them just stalling. And then he kissed her again and her stomach moved three inches to the left, pulling the support out from beneath her heart, which immediately dropped down and left her breathless (due to her lungs caving in and filling the space where her heart should be). The anatomy of a moment such as this. Emily kind of wanted to keep kissing him forever, but Jamesy keeps talking about some stupid thing called "story" and "scene advancement" or something. Darn writers. So she completely ignored Jamesy, slid one hand through Louis' hair, and not a single fuck was given that day.
Louis grinned against Emily's lips when she ran a hand through his hair, and placed one hand on her waist, simultaneously pulling her closer to him and pushing her against the bookshelf. He came up for air again, staring into her eyes, "I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself. You wanted to stop?" A concerned look crossed his face, he didn't want to freak her out or push her away already.
"What? No," she said a little dreamily, her brain still pretty mushy on account of all of her bodily organs being in the wrong spots. "I mean - yes. No. Stop - stop doing that thing. With your face." She idly played with his hair, twisting it around her fingers. She could feel his hand on her waist, creating some sort of magnetic field that further pushed her insides around. She was like 80% sure kissing was supposed to be less squirmy insides and more happy funtimes, but whatever. It took a lot of concentration to get her brain back into working order. Something about being backed into a bookshelf this close to Louis was scrambling everything. "I'm pretty sure we'd be in all kinds of trouble if Pince saw us now," she giggled nearly hysterically. Firing distracters. An automatic response.
As completely girl as it sounds, Louis felt a chill run down his back while Emily twisted his hair around her fingers. He kept the one hand around her waist, and moved the other one from the shelf to behind her back, so his arms were circling her. He chuckled, "Doing what with my face? This?" he leaned in for a quick kiss and grinned as he pulled back. "And you're probably right. Pince would have a bird if she saw us right now." He leaned in close and whispered in her ear "but I'm not too concerned at the moment."
Emily went a little melty again as he kissed her. Her fingers tightened in his hair. He pulled away but she kept leaning forward and stopped only when she couldn't reach anymore. "Not fair," she whispered. Totally not fair. She extricated her fingers from his hair with some difficulty and gave a little hysterical giggle. I think this counts as a high stress situation. But, like, the good kind of stress? She wrestled her brain under control and pulled herself together. It was no longer a surprise. No more meltiness. "Dear sir, could this possibly be the book you were looking for?" She pulled a random book out from behind her. Jokes and flirting. That's how Em do.
